I am performing a search on the entire registry. Why only HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and HKEY_USERS get searched and not the other rootkeys?

All other registry rootkeys (HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT etc) are actually subkeys of either HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE or HKEY_USERS. This means that if all rootkeys would get searched, matches would be reported multiple times. I performed a registry backup or defragmentation and I received the following message: Error: insufficient system resources The problem appears occasionally and the cause is deep inside the registry interfaces of the Windows kernel which means it is beyond our possibilities to provide a solution for this.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
