If have temp call doc, could be strep throat. : ( I'm a nurse and this spring it seems lots of folks are getting strep throat. One of the big symptoms is, of course, a VERY sore throat--like "I don't want to swallow my own saliva because it hurts!" sore throat.
If you don't have a thermometer, you can often tell that you have a fever if you feel crazy cold and can't get warm, then take some tylenol or ibuprofen and wake up HOT and sweating (this means fever has "broken"). If you have very sore throat and fever you should really get doctor's appointment to get it checked out.It's hard to get rid of strep throat without antibiotics. If you don't have a fever (T>99 F or >37.5 C) it might just be sinus drainage making your throat sore.
If this is the case, then drink drink drink lots of fluids fluids fluids and get lots of sleep sleep sleep so your body can fight it off on its own.

Try gargling with warm salt water. Irrigating your sinuses with a netty pot helps. Also a humidifier helps as well.
I use musinex DM because usually it's mucus related. Drink lots of fluids. Use pain meds like tylenol or advil if you can.Rest.
I've used Elderberry syrup, but I don't know if it works. Lastly, get tested for strep and take antibiotics as your doctor orders.
. You spray it on the back of your throat and it numbs the heck out of it.It's not a long term solution, but in the short term it really helps reduce soreness.
Try to gurgle with an Aspirin Desolved in normal water. Take Vitamin C and Zinc suppliment. Take Hot chicken soup.
Most phyarngitis is viral, however if you have "pus" in your throat it could be strep and antibiotics would be indicated.
I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
