I honestly don't know. Your mother's doctor should be able to give you some contact numbers for Social Services though and they may be able to help. I have heard secondhand of someone who receives income for taking care of her mother, but I don't know how.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
My sister gets her health insurance through medicaid because she cares for my mom. We're in PA.
Vicky.....I don't know if you solved your income problem but here is what I know. In California where I live your Mother would have to qualify for Med-Cal not Medicare. Med-Cal is for people who are considered poverty/poor.
Your mother can't make over $2000.00 a month to qualify. The program to get income to take care of a parent is called IHSS, In-House Supportive Services. Its run by the Dept of Health & Human Services.
They will send you an application to fill out but they have to pre-qualify over the phone. Good luck but I'm sure you probably already know this info. Mary.
Don't know but a good place to start is with your local department of aging and/or department of social services. Some communities do have programs that will allow small payments to relatives for services rendered. Unfortunately some of these programs have been cut back due to budget problems but at least call to find out if there's anything still available in your own community.
Depending on the country you live in you may be eligible for government assistance. I know in Australia the government provides a carers pension for those people who are unable to work due to their carer role. If you are Australian then you can check my hubs for more information.
I would check with a local carers group to see what is around in your local area. You can often find information on carers groups at your local hospital or community center. Good luck with your search.
Yes! If your Mom qualifies for Medicare, you may be able to receive payments that would otherwise go to an institution or professional caregiver. Check with your area Agency on Aging to find out about eligibility and where to start.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
