I DO NOT take illegal drugs. I take Zoloft. I failed a 10-panel drug test for a job.

Have you heard of this before? I only take 33 mg of Zoloft a day and I also take a thyroid and birth control prescription. The 10-panel test came back positive for barbiturates.

I am not using any over-the-counter medicine either. It was very humiliating. Has this happened to you or to someone you know?

The clinic should have given you a form to show the presription drugs you are taking. This way, the false positives could be eliminated. Most companies test for illegal drugs (marijuana, cocaine, ecstasy, speed, crystal meth, etc.).

The more expensive ones will run a GC/MS to determine what is in the urine. The cheaper ones, that most companies use, use a litmus type paper which is very subjective and inaccurate..

I’ve read that companies don’t want to hire people who are taking antidepressants. Funny when you think of how many people are prescribed antidepressants for every symptom known to man. The doctor’s write the scripts, you fill them and take them with trust, the corporations release more and more antidepressants and other drugs with wacky side-effects that don’t come out until much latter and then people lose their jobs because they take these drugs when they probably didn’t need them to begin with.

I have no way of knowing your situation but you might google a recent article. Apparently regular exercise has the exact same effect on depression as drugs like Paxil and Zoloft. And most times, it doesn’t bring on drug related diseases that have to be treated with yet more drugs that cause yet more side-effects.

This is just another side-effect as far as I can see it. Employers aren’t going to be honest, so how can you really know what they found and why they had objections? If it is a result of combined meds, then you might get yourself a lawyer but be prepared to go against the pharma industry.

You're not alone. I was taking a thyroid pill; nothing else. Woke up first day of new job with a fantastic headcold, and I took like Dayquil, or Coricidin.

Came back a couple days later, that I tested positive for speed. I put everything from my medicine cabinet in paper bag and took it to the pharmacy. The pharmacist said yes, you can get a false positive from lots of things.

I argued with the people at work, I was adamant that I didn't take any drugs. They asked me if I would take another test, I said yes and that was an end of it. I'm never surprised when I hear about false positives.

Possibility The only thing I can think of is that the pharmacy that gave you the meds - the tray that they count their pills on - maybe they used barbituates before they counted yours. IF they where dusty, the powder could of stayed on the tray and then your pills where counted and the powder got on them. The test is sensitive that maybe a daily inocuulation of this powder is causing you to get a positive result?

Those meds will not cross react and make the test positive. So the above explanation, that someone is slipping you some, the test was a false positive and ask to be retested, or you really do take them. Those are the possibilities in my mind.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
