I don't know the title to a science fiction book but I know the story line, How do I find the title?

A race of very long lived aliens crash land on earth before man has left the trees. There is no chance of rescue from the home world so they have to help the humans to develop technology so they can repair their ship. They do this surreptitiously by being around anybody that appears to be making great strides in technology.

For example one of these relatively immortal beings just happened to be Leonardo DaVinci's assistant. They kept directing the human race towards a technological infrastructure necessary to repair their ship. Does any of this sound familiar?

Wow, I'm looking for the same book. Did you have any luck findinbg it? I can remember a bit more of the plot.

The principle charater was a detective or reporter (PI though I'm pretty sure). He was homing in on a female from the same crashed crew. They were the only survivors left.

I think they had to drink heavy water to maintain theri longevity. She was working I think for NASA on a spaceship and planning to escape on it.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
