Technically yes, practically you're in a world of hurt. Depending on teh capabilities of your Dish receiver, you should have more than one video output choice. Connect a free video output from your Dish receiver to a compatible input on your VCR.
If it is RF, set the Dish output to Ch 3 and your VCR input to Ch 3; if you are using composite or component video, set your VCR to recording from those inputs (check your manual). But here's the rub... you can't get your VCR to flip channels on satellite, since the Dish receiver uses totally different tuning circuits than a cable box. So you can record what you are watching, or set the receiver to start recording at a particular time as long as you leave it on the channel you want to record.
This is very limiting of course. You should reconsider your decision regarding the DVR. I have DirecTV, and assuming things are roughly the same between the two, the added functionality is well worth it.
Start with the fact that you can get the DVR free (or at least very cheap) for a year's committment, and the monthly charge is less than the cost of a new tape or two. You can record two channels at the same time while watching a previously recorded channel! Skipping commercials is a breeze.
The recording is much higher quality than is possible with a VCR. You can record from the DVR to a VCR or DVD-Recorder (a better choice since DVD disks are cheap, easier to store, and higher fidelity). Setting up recordings, whether for one show or an entire season, is a couple of clicks of the remote rather than laborious VCR setup.
You don't have to pour through a TV Guide to find what you want to record -- just select an item from your on-screen channel guide and click record (or use the search functions if you don;t know when it is playing). And you don't have to remember to change tapes. When you want to playback, no getting up and searching through a pile of tapes, just use the clicker to choose from a menu.
The advantages are staggering.
Routing The way I have to do it is, run the cable from the satellite received into the VCR. THen run the "out" cable from the VCR to the TV. If your TV can switch input modes, you may find that you can copy if you switch the input mode on the TV to " Video 1".
My VCR comes thru on the regular setting, but my DVD recorder/player will only show when the input mode is on "Video 1". My other DVD/VCR is rigged up to receive antenna signals on our local channels, as they are not available thru the satellite. This machine is plugged into the front of the TV, and comes thru on "Video 2".
Sometime it take quite a bit of trial and error to get it right. Hope this helps. Sources: trial and error .
Sure. You just reroute your cables Your Dish cable and your antenna (for any on-air stuff) comes into your dish. Then your sat receiver output goes to your VCR with a cable - then you go from your VCR to your TV, with cable ot component cables.

1 Forgot to say the my VCR is routed to the DVD that works on "Video 1", so I can record from a tape to the DVD recorder, or directly from the satellite to either the VCR or the DVD recorder. I have DirecTV, so it may work differently that DISH. My routing goes from the satellite to the VCR to the DVD.
I have no idea why I have to switch to "Video 1" to see what is playing or recording on the DVD.

2 On my original answer, where I said "received" it should be "receiver" - twice. Sorry if this caused any confusion.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
