Similar questions: found huge yucca field behinde home transplanted yard stalk broken.

I wonder whether that transplanting was legal. The yucca might have been a protected plant in a protected area. Anyway, the stalk is the rare flower stem (rare as in once in 2 or 3 decades) and is dramatic and weird but not the life of the plant.

The leaves are. If those die, worry.

The transplanting was completely legal, I asked the owner of the property. I would not be out plant stealing with my granddaughter. LOL I live in Ohio, there seems to be alot of concern with our winters for the yuccas that live outdoors. So what do I do with the stalk?

Do I just leave it? Will it never bloom again? The property owner is even unsure how they even got there as he has been the owner for fifty years.

There are others n there area. Do they cluster together naturally like that? I do not want to kill the poor thing.

But I know all most nothing about it. Thank You for your help and info so far. BrucesLesa 9 months ago .

If the stalk is not completely separated, you might try to use a splint and wrap it with a piece of material and keep it moist. Good luck. If the stalk is completely severed, you are looking at a helicopter ride to Bethesda, cxomplex surgery, a long hospital stay and about $ 70 K.

Of course, in an advanced country, such as Germany, National health will cover it and it will cost them about $42. This here is A-Mur-A-Ka and we ain't got no National Health, our politicians do but us peasants do not...this here is A-Mur-A-Ka and don't you forgot it.

Three of mine flowered last summer and I wondered what to do - not knowing anything about gardening south of NJ, I cut off the flower and now I've seen a yucca plant with thick stalks canopied by more yuccas - reminds me of a palm tree in a way. I wonder if I should have left those flowers alone? .

Yep. And your question inspired me to do some online searching. There is quite a bit of info about Yucca and yucca stalks:ehow.com/how_5704551_prune-yucca-flower-... html.

I think if I'd left it alone, a spray yucca would have grown on the stalk and then a new flower stalk would have sprung from that. I'm going to leave them alone from now on.

Thank you for all your help and your fantastic info. My stalk is onlt half way broken hopefully with alot of love and little water as I have found out they will flower soon. Good Luck with yours and I would love to know if they bloom for you this summer Or even if they don't bloom let me know if your stalk grows.

Once again Thank you for all your info and your help. Will be hoping and waiting with you watching for growth and bloom BrucesLesa 9 months ago .

Wait until the flowers on the yucca stalk have faded and begun to wilt.2 Measure about 3 to 4 inches above the point where the flower stalk meets the yucca plant's main stem.3 Clip the yucca flower stalk with a pair of pruning shears at the 3- to 4-inch mark. Im thinking we did ok mayb cause this says that we were supose to cut off the stem bout 3 to 4 inches from base to keep plant healthy and keep the mold from growing on it atleast that is what I understood from reading it and mine is more than 3 think its bout 7 or 8 But like you suggested I am going to leave it alone and see what happens Thank You so much for all your info and help! You should check on Dave's gardening forum. The newbe forum is free and when I've made the effort, my questions have been answered by professionals more than once. davesgarden.com/community/forums/I'll follow you.

Gardening is a passion of mine but I'm a displaced northcountry gardener. I had a green thumb up north but not where I live now. I'm leaning toward southwestern varieties of plants.

I think the zoning is all screwed up now. Com/community/forums.

Sorry to hear that. I myself love gardening as well However my thumb is FAR from green. I am getting better and better most things I grow must have a strong will to survive lol The more I learn the better off I am getting I guess its like everything else.

The more you know the more you can grow! Thanks again for all your Help, I am greatfull. As will be my yucca I will check out that site.

THANK YOU! Thanks! Thanks!

Thanks! I will let you know if I find out anything helpfull on my end. Enjoy the rest of your weekend BrucesLesa 9 months ago .

My Yuccas bloomed again this year. It's not rare by any stretch of the imagination.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
