I think it has to do with your association with blood. When I was a child I saw a man cut in half, I was about 5. It was on a quiet residential street and the man was getting things out of the back of his pickup truck.
A drunk came speeding down the street and slammed into the truck cutting the man off at the waist. It wasn't until I reconciled that from my memory that I was able to see blood without getting ill.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
