Tell your mother that it is your life and that this is not what you want to do. If she will only pay for what she thinks you need to do, then find a way to pay for college yourself, go part time, take your core classes at a community college. But this is your life, not hers.
You need to be doing what makes you happy.
Whoo. This is hard. But if you like writing, why don't sit down and write while in college?
I bet they have a newspaper.. So perhaps you can get a job there if they like your writing. About your mom and how SHE wants you to this and that. That's a very difficult situation, on one hand you don't wanna disappoint her, but on the other hand, you wanna be happy.
So this is really not something anybody but yourself can answer. You have think that it's YOUR future. If its a profession you don't wanna work in for the rest of your life, then you have a big choice to make.
But about the arts, it's not many people who make it big, or even enough to make a living, so I'd say keep it a hobby for now, but pursue the dream. And then figure out what you wanna work with. And when you've figured it all out, sit down as an adult and explain your situation to your mom.
Perhaps then she'll listen.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
