I don't know what kind of disability she has but I have a 46 yr. Old daughter with retardation problems from brain damage & she has been on SSI(social security income) since she was 18. She gets a monthly check.

I also don't know what State you live in but in New York there are a lot of things I am entltled to because her. I am also retired. If you want, you can message me privately & I will try to help as much as I can.

Thank you grandmabx. My daughter lives in Los Angeles, and I have been trying to get her on disability since March of last year. We were rejected and have a court date on March 14th.

At this point I don't have an representative yet. My daughter doesn't open her mail and I just received the SS information. Have been working frantically to provide recent records and reports to SS.

Any good advice would be appreciated. Jennsnow 1 month ago .

They should state that she can't work or live by herself so she needs a monthly income to help you. It seems it is more difficult in L.A. because you have a court date. I didn't have to go through that.

Just sumitted psychiatric & medical evaluations & I was awarded SSI on her behalf. If you don't get results maybe you can look up "Legal Aid" in your area. They work for free.

They are studying lawyers. If you have any questions I can help you with,I would love to. I know what you are going through.

I have been taking care of my daughter all of her life. She will be 47 this month. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat.

I lover her so much. I am a double amputee and I have help with her. I have a companion for her.

She is a wonderful lady thatg takes her out, helps her do things around the house to help me. I also found an excellent day program where she does minimal work and gets paid a little bit as incentive. It's called "Creative Lifestyles".

Maybe similar programs in your area to give you a breather during the day & entertain her. I wish you the best of luck with everything. Please keep writing to me if ou wish.

I really want to know how this turns out for you. God bless you. Grandma .

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
