I (still) have a horrible smell coming from my bathroom (insert joke here). It's not sewer gas, more like a dead animal (already changed the wax ring on toilet). I have checked the traps, snaked the pipes, checked the exhaust vent.
The smell comes and goes, and has been there for 6 months now. It happens randomly, sometimes when the toilet is flushed, sometimes when the shower is used. This smell does not come from any of the other bathrooms.

All the other places something foul could hide (or be hidden -- you don’t have a nasty ex do you?). Have you explored with your nose? I.e.
When the smell appears, have you tried to "nose out" where it is strongest? Nose in the bowl, around the floor, etc.
I had a the exact same thing happen in my bathroom I had a smell that would also come and go and it was the strangest thing. I cleaned every nook and cranny. It turned out there was a dead rat stuck in between the wall that was right next to an outlet in the bathroom.
I had an exterminator come and he found it. Bless him! The smell would come and go when there was a draft in the attic which would flow down in between the walls pushing the air out through the outlet.
Complex I know, but it made sense. I recommend you check all the insulation between the walls surrounding your bathroom.
This leads me to believe you checked the exhaust fan for your bathroom.... if so you need to check your "plumbing vent" which is a round pipe 2", 3", or 4" generally, that exits straight up through your roof.It needs to be proprely routed in your walls and is difficult to check. There may be several on your roof, and all fixtures need to be attached to one. If this bathroom is a long distance from the roof vent vertically or horizontally then this is where I would focus.
Have a plumber check it out. There is a lot you can't see and a lot you could miss here. They should check it with some kind of equipment not just visually.
A vacuum guage on the roof vent while draining a full tub and/or flushing the toilet- hold the flush valve open, or blowing air up the vent. Listening for noise on the roof may not tell the hole story. Signs of an improperly working vent are slow drainage, glugging noise when water goes down drian, bad smells near your drains.
I've found 3 year old houses that still have a pressure test cap on the vent! Next how old is your house? And / or is this a new addition?
If this portion of your house, or all of it is sealed tight and your bathroom fan is fairly powerfull (I assume you use the fan when showering and flushing) see the connection? You could be sucking gasses in from the sewer lines even if the plumbing vent works well. Try showering without the fan on see if this eliminates the smell.
Or ultimately add a fresh air supply vent to your utility room and be sure that room is not sealed off from the rest of your house. Least likely would be the oder of your water but since this isn't a problem anywhere else in your house this is unlikely, but worth haveing your water tested since most counties will do it for free. Without more specifics this is all I can give you.
How old is your house? Is there a basement, slab, crawl space under this bathroom? How far is the roof plumbing vent?
Do you use a bathroom vent fan? Is there a window? What surounds the bathroom 4 sides, top, bottom?
What kind of flooring, tile, carpet, vinyl? It there room under the shower for dead mice, rats, etc? The more info given the better the answers you'll get. Sources: home inspector/contractor .

2 It has something to do with a vent problem. Probably when a toilet is flushed, the water is sucked out of one of the traps, this causes the occas smell. Probably should have a plumber check it out.
There is such a thing as an auto vent which can be put in a waste pipe to relieve some of the vacume sensation. These are to be used as a last resort. They can help when you have a lot of things vented to one vent.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
