I have a print of a young girl in a victorian red coat and bonnet I am trying to identify.. any help?

Wow--she is beautiful! I will look around and see if I can find anything! .

It's a 19th century illustration. Print of a greeting card or advertisement most likely.

Christmas card. It was never a fine art painting.

That makes sense. It does look like it would be a Christmas card. My mom always wondered about it's origin and I also did.

I would love to find the original design, sounds like a new quest! Thanks so much for your help! Lpclay 2 months ago .

There were zillions of these types of designs done for magazines, valentines, holiday cards and ads during the late 19th and very early 20th century. It would be amazing if you found the source of this one single example. They were prolific and international.

And since they were done for commercial applications, the artists are rarely if ever identified.

This is a very realistic print. The girl has a red dress with a red bonnet. The bonnet has pink flowers in the bonnet and on the neck/chest area of the dress.

It appears to be a victorian era but I am not sure of that. The print does not have any artist markings that I can see. My grandmother originally had this print and I got it when my mom passed away.

picture of print linkThanks!

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
