I have decided this year I will read ALL of Jane Austen's books! I am about 3/4 of the way through Sense and Sensibility What do think of my goal and have you ever decided to read all of a particular author? What kind of effect will all of this Jane Austen all at once have on me?

Its perfectly natural There is nothing to be alarmed about. I've had it a few times already with different authors. I read all six DUNE books of Frank Herbert within a year, and of course the entire 'Lord of The Rings' during one summer holiday.
Yeah, it dows make you crazy a bit, but at least you'll remember the details of the other books while reading the other books. So, go right ahead, and read all of Austen's books, as long as you are still enjoying them.
Great idea! I think it’s wonderful, when you find an author you love, to seek out and read all their works. Jane Austen is certainly a delightful author and has written wonderful books.
My only concern about the particular choice of Austen is while her writing is superb and her characterizations masterful, the language and settings could get a bit stale after a few books. I know some would look on that as blasphemy! But I’m partway into my third Victorian novel in a row (not Austen) and I have to say it’s getting a little repetitive.
The only author whose entire oeuvre I’ve intentionally sought out is Nevada Barr. She is a former National Park Service ranger who has written about a dozen fairly prosaic "who-dunnit" mystery novels, each set in a different national park. It’s fun to get insider knowledge about the parks, but the real hook is her progagonist, Anna Pigeon.
I love this woman! Anna is a park ranger who always seems to stumble on a body, no matter which park she’s in. She is wise, witty, flawed, irreverent, somewhat cynical, struggling as a woman to do a "man’s" job, trying to decide whether to commit to her man, trying to resist going overboard with alcohol, trying to maintain a long distance relationship with her chain-smoking sister -- just a delightful, realistically-painted character.
We have so much in common I wish she were real so I could meet her. I know we'd be friends. Ms.
Barr also wrote a non-fiction book called Seeking Enlightenment Hat by Hat. I first took it out of the library but loved it so much I bought my own copy. She talks about her quest for a religion or theology that could be compatible with her spirituality and her intellect.
It’s a wonderful book to read if you’ve ever struggled or even given a little thought to that. I've done this with Austen and others. I have read all of Jane Austen's books several times. Every few years, I will re-read all her novels over my summer vacation.
I love the language and the subtlety of the stories. I pick one as my favorite until I read the next one, and then that becomes my favorite one. I think the effect will just be that you have a deeper appreciation for Jane Austen and feel a sense of accomplishment that you met a goal you set for yourself.
My friends might argue that I'm crazy, but I don't think reading Jane Austen had anything to do with it. :) I have also read everything written by a few contemporary authors - Dean Koontz, Stephen King, and Michael Connelly. Most of these authors I have read over several years as new books came out, but I did read all of Michael Connelly's pretty much over a couple of months once I discovered him.
I also read all of Janet Evanovich's number series over one of my summer vacations. I also have lots of "sequels" and novels tied to Jane Austen and her work.
1 She didn't write all that many books, so it probably won't take you all year to read them. She's a wonderful author, and you probably won't go crazy. You might lose some sleep over one burning question: Mr. Knightley or Mr. Darcy?
!?! That one keeps me up at night sometimes.

2 That is a tough question. I tend to lean towards Mr. Darcy because he is socially inept and so am I...

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
