Depends Depends. A lot of things a gas engine has, a diesel does not have. Those things you don't have will not cause trouble.

There's no ignition system, and no carburetor. Also the oil doesn't get diluted with gasoline and acids. So there's no spark plugs that need gapping and replacing, and fewer oil changes.

Then again it has some really expensive parts, like the fuel injection pump. So you got your pluses and minuses.

I know the VW diesel requires more frequent oil changes and synthetic oil The newer diesels will have to have filters and high tech injectors to operate with fewer emissions. Any time you make an engine more complex, failures seem to cost more, so I suspect diesels have higher maintenance bills. That was one comment I heard from diesel owners.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
