The officer refusing to open the account is quite wrong. If you approached him with a PAN card ( where the address mentioned differs from the one where you are living now) and an address proof (tel. Bill, electricity bill, property tax or a letter from your employer with a photo ID) and give the bank a letter saying why you want to open the account in that particular branch, he/she cannot refuse.
If they do, ask them to give the reasons for refusal in writing. Apply to the banking Ombudsman, Northern Region at the RBI office for prompt redressal.
Mr. Dash, along with id proof/photo/proof of residence, you will require a ref.ie. A known person who will introduce you to the sbi branch. This person must have good record of his a/c with the sbi branch where you want to open your a/c.
If you comply to it then there is no reason to turn down your request. If they still refuse then you will have to write to banking ombudsman office with all papers along with refusal letter from sbi branch. You will find banking ombudsman details in the branch on a notice board or ask for it from the branch itself.
Best of luck.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
