Not everyone is able to meditate, despite what its advocates might say. What meditation is, essentially, is self hypnosis, putting the mind in a trance state, or another mode of consciousness. Just as some people are impossible to hypnotize (like me), some people are also not able to self hypnotize.

Which is something of a drawback since there are times when that ability would be very useful. The purpose of meditation is to focus and calm the mind achieving a hypnogogic state. There are other ways to go about this.

I find listening to music particularly helpful in this. Mike Oldfield's albums Tubular Bells and Hergest Ridge are my own mainstays. When one focuses the mind on the music, it helps to encourage the state of essential nothingness and calm that is the purpose of meditation.

What you want is a state of calm, conscious attention, a state of waiting. You face a tough fight. You have kids.

I have never in my life known a woman who could stop thinking of her family and their wellbeing and whatever problems there may be at any given time. When the kids are gone, you worry that they're safe. When they're asleep, you have other worries.

What you want is to find an island or relaxation in the sea of life. So anything that helps you relax the body and mind is the same as meditation really. I've even known a good massage to work wonders.

Yes, I do. I am a spiritualist and a yoga teacher. I suggest you find a kundalini yoga class.

The meditations in Kundalini are powerful and guided and supportive and connective.

Also, kundalini by yogi Bhagan is without great effort supportive mantra and breathing techniques. Its not complicated and connects you with the infinite. Good luck.

Of course , anyone can meditate . This body is a perfect vessel , made to hold that ultimate experience . Meditation is not a hypnotic trance state or the mind , pacifying the mind , with a set of odd words that the mind can , eventually ; conceptualize .

Meditation is a living experience that transcends the mind . The mind is finite , the experience is infinite . Meditation is perfect concentration on the perfection that already , exists , within , inside every human being .

The concentration is perfected ,automatically , once that perfection , is revealed . I've tried studying meditation , on my own and then under several teachers, Yogis and Holy Men . It wasn't until I found someone who'd mastered going within , inside and was able to reveal , that place to me and give me the tools to access it , did I begin to understand ; that we are in fact , that experience .

It is the mind and all it's activities , that distracts us from our true self . That self , that has been there since we took our first breath . It's where we came from , where we're going and where we are , presently .

I've studied Kundalini Yoga under Yogi Bhagan and found : it requires extreme postures , diet and a two and half breath mantra , every morning at a very early hour . The cleansing effect , is beautiful but I didn't feel it delivered , what it offered . Call it , whatever you like : meditation , perfection , peace , love , God those are all just words .

The experience came first , the words came later . If you really have a sincere desire to know the ultimate experience start here : wopg.org.

Meditation is not all about sitting in quiet place thinking about nothing! Understanding the meaning of meditation is very important. Meditation in Meditation evolved from the root word yog which in In ndi two yog two equals four!

The attempt of our soul atman... the spirit within to combine with God Almighty is termed yoga! This process of yoga meditation involves establishing absolute control over five senses and mind. In the process human beings experienced tranquility when the flow of incessant thoughts to our brain stopped altogether.

For quietening our mind... for slowing the flow of thoughts to our brain... pranayama is the best form of meditation yoga! Pranayama can be indulged in any pose... while sitting, standing or walking... or even lying down in Shavasana pose of yoga (the dead pose)! And what does pranayama mean?

Every human being primarily is a conscious power... a soul atman that has manifested human form to work out its karma... cleanse itself of dross impurities within! Every human being reaching our soul atman that seems to reside within our heart is the goal of life! Concentrating on breathing process... who actually desires fresh air is what life is all about!

It is our soul atman that needs fresh air. We can reach our soul atman through the medium of air entering through the nostrils! Lying in Shavasana pose of yoga ... inhaling and exhaling air we slowly retard the flow of thoughts to our brain!

This results in calming of our brain and the anxiety within! Through this process of pranayama one can reach highest stage of spirituality... the stage of Nirvikalpa samadhi... the stage of absolute nothingness... when not a single thought flows to our brain!

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
