I heard a "conspiracy" theory... Someone was telling me that Bush and the rest of his allies want llary Clinton to win the election. Why? Because they anticipate that she will make very unpopular moves regarding the war (among other things), and then nobody will want her for a 2nd term, and most will vote Republican again.
What is your opinion on this? Do you think this is some nutjob theory or could this actually have a grain of truth to it? Asked by Iluthien 48 months ago Similar questions: heard conspiracy theory Politics & Law > Politics.
Nutjobs It is in fact quite true that the next President will likely face the consequences of things that happened during the Bush administration (and the Clinton administration, for that matter) and receive a world of pain for it. I have very dim hopes for whoever is elected in 2008 to be re-elected in 2012. But counting on that would be political suicide.
The most obvious reason: Justice Stevens is going to retire. A Republican appointment would seal a conservative dominance on the Supreme Court literally until I am dead. There's no way they could tolerate llary Clinton making that choice, especially there's a Democratically-controlled Senate as well.
I wouldn't count on Republicans pinning problems with the war on the subsequent President. This is Bush's war, and even if he leaves the country in a moderately good place (say, extrapolating from the relative peace there now) any failures will be easily laid at his feet. This war is widely identified with Bush because the stated case for the war has been largely discounted; he's basically doing it on his own say-so.
More likely is that a terrorist attack can be blamed on the next President, who will try very hard to say "Bush was busy invading Iraq and missing Osama in Pakistan", but that may not stick. After all, Bush took most of the brunt for ignoring the "Osama bin Laden determined to attack inside the United States" memo, despite having been in office for only 9 months. Besides, there's a very good chance that a terrorist attack would work to Bush's successor's benefit. It worked well for Bush; his approval ratings were the highest ever seen, on both sides of the aisle.
Americans tend to pull together in a crisis. An even slightly competent performance by llary Clinton would be well received; they may dislike her but they know she's not really incompetent. Should Clinton will they will of course spin it as positively as they can for the Republicans, saying it guarantees them a victory in 2012, but they'd be a lot happier with a bird in the hand than two in the bush (or another Bush in four).
You know, at this time I am willing to believe almost anything I hear about the Bush Administration, as long as someone from the Bush Administration didn’t say it. I’m not saying I believe they want but if I were in the field of Republican politics right now, I would definitely want the next president to be a Democrat. I don’t know if there are any real Republican strategists out there who are seriously thinking this, though; I just can’t think like a politician.
I am so happy about that. I think that no matter who is elected as the next president, Republican, Democrat or some dark-horse Independent, he or she is going to have the worst, most tumultuous term in office since Abraham Lincoln’s. No matter what the next president does or wants to do, it is not going to please the electorate.
I don’t want to get into anything specific here, except that I will tell you that I believe if the government (this one or the next one) really believes the freedom of the United States is at stake in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, withdrawal will not be an issue, and two very unpopular things will have to happen (and if our freedom really is at stake, and if we really are fighting them over there to keep from having to fight them over here these things should already have been done): Reestablish the draft, and raise taxes! That’s the way you win wars if you are really interested in winning them. Now how popular will that be?
I think that unless there is a lot of hidden talent and wisdom in one of the current candidates that has not become apparent yet, whoever gets elected is going to be a one-termer. Now I will tell you a joke: A little league coach was trying to teach one of his outfielders how to catch fly balls. The coach was hitting one after the other to the outfielder, and no matter what, he would lose them in the air, they would tip his glove or he would bobble them and drop it.So the coach had his assistant take over the batting and walked out to the kid, put on a glove and told the him he was going to demonstrate how it was done.
He signaled his assistant to hit a fly out to him, reached up to catch it, and it missed his glove by two inches! The coach takes the glove off, throws it on the ground and yells at the outfielder: "Dammit kid, now you’ve got this position so screwed up no one can play it!" That coach is going to be our next president.

Both There could be more than a grain of truth that the Bush inner circle came up with this theory. However that doesn't preclude it from being a nutjob theory. Almost everything we have seen proposed by the White House 'imtellegentsia' hasn't even reached the level of being nutjob, mostly falling in the range of moron through idiot..
I'm sure there's a ring of truth to it Not so much in the idea that Republicans are "conspiring" together about this or plotting in any way. But I'm sure they'd just assume that if a Democrat were to win the job that whoever it was would lose favor soon enough to give the Republicans a good shot in four years. And (as a registered Democrat), I'd guess that the major Democrat contender with the greatest odds of cheesing everyone off is Plus, consider this other reason they might want llary: It sets a further excellent precedent for having the Presidency passed down family lines.
We have a Bush and Clinton Dynasty going on here (If and let's assume she holds the office for 8 years, that means there will have been a Bush or Clinton in power for 27 years consecutively! ). The Presidency is being passed between the two families.
Maybe Republicans think this would set a could tone to line up Jeb for the White House...or another Bush. At this point though, I'm sure the Republicans are much more focused on stoking their own image and not being forced to even contemplate how to "win back" the White House.
I heard something similar Personally I think that was more of a joke then anything else. There is a version of that about Bush for Democrats in the upcoming election too. It would be ridiculous to believe in something like this.It just isn't a good move at all.
I still remember the old proverb "One bird in the hand is worth two in the bush". Or worth more. Don't remember it that much, but I remember enough.

Why is a scientific theory not just a theory.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
