I heard men who grow facial hair like mustache and beard are trying to hide something about them. Is that true? It sounded dubious to me when I heard it from someone.

I thought men grew mustache and beard for aesthetic reasons, but supposedly that wasn't the case from what I heard. They grow it to cover something negative about themselves. No, I don't believe it is. I just don't see how that can possibly be true. If you look at particular geographical areas -- such as Scandinavia, where facial hair is the norm rather than something unusual -- and periods in history, then it's quite clear there are a great number of cultural factors which influence the decision about facial hair.

There are also various religious reasons for not shaving. Whilst a very small number of people might be trying to cover some facial feature that they consider unattractive, and I'm sure at least one psychologist is going to have concluded that there's some great symbolic concealment involved, I really don't believe that this is why people grow facial hair! I'm hiding nothing! Well, except my chin and my philtrum. :-) The reason that I let my beard grow when it started coming in was that I didn't want to spend the time to trim it every day.

Later, I decided that I liked it, so even though I could've taken the time to shave every day, I didn't want to. It started coming in (very thin) when I was about 13 or 14, and I didn't get a major trim until I was 22. (I occasionally did little self-trims to keep it from getting too long.) At my high school's Senior Dinner, there was a slide show with "visions of the future", and when they got to me, they said that I will have gone on tour with ZZ Top.

:-)= With my beard, I've always resembled my father, who has a similar style of beard. People I didn't know came up to me and asked me if I was his son, the resemblance was so close. However, a couple of summers ago, I was talked into getting my beard and mustache shaved completely off.

(Actually, I said I'd do it for $100, since I didn't think anyone would actually pay, but my brother Dan gave me a hundred bucks, so I went ahead. ) Much to my surprise, I was told that I resembled my mother. And looking at us side-by-side in the mirror, I had to agree.

As odd of a sensation as air against my cheek was, seeing myself as a male version of my mother was even weirder! I grew it back, of course, and I have no plans to shave it off completely again..

I'm sure everyone has their own reasons But there isn't a catch-all for everyone. I usually keep a goatee, but my winter ritual is to grow a beard (neatly trimmed, of course, not a grizzly adams) to keep my cheeks warm. I went through a phase when I was younger to have just the hair on my chin grow in...no mustache.

I looked like an idiot when I look back at those pictures. Tried a mustache for about 5 seconds...was shaving my beard/goatee off and left the mustache for the last. Yikes, let's just get rid of that.

I don't know who told you that, but is not true. Look, I don't like mustache and beard and that is why I don't use it. I try once, but I didn't like how I look, but I wasn't try to cover anything. My oldest bother some times used mustache and some times doesn't, but is because they way he want to look.

Another point is that no every men has a good mustache or beard. If I let it grow, I know I will have enough to cover whatever I want to hide, but one of my bothers, even if he want to, he doesn't have enough to cover anything, so what can he do about it, nothing. Sources: Personal opinion .

1 My brother's mustache looks great. I've seen him with and without his mustache, and he looks terrific either way. He's not hiding anything.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
