You cannot write this on the form to get out of jury duty. The only way you can use this term to your advantage is if you actually get chosen to be on a jury. Once you are there, all you will need to do is to NOT swear to decide the verdict according to the law.
Mention jury nullification and the fact that you have the right to disagree with the law that has supposedly been broken. The judge will most likely excuse you from jury duty. If you simply don't want to go to jury duty at all, you will need to come up with an adequate excuse, such as physical or mental disorders or handicaps.
For example, I stated on my last jury duty request form that I have panic attacks and cannot drive a certain amount of distance. I don't know if that is why I was not selected for jury duty, but in anyone else's case, I would make sure to attatch a doctor's note or something else of the sort. Work or school is not an adequate excuse for missing jury duty.
Hope this has helped!
Jury Nullification is NOT a reason to be excused from jury duty. Jury nullification means that you believe in using your power as a juror to deem a law unjust. The prosecutor may choose to dismiss you if you claim you believe in jury nullification but the defense attorney would be thrilled to have you on the jury.
Also keep in mind that it depends on the nature of the case. Jury nullification claims in tax, drug or prostitution cases make sense. There are many people that have legit qualms with these types of laws.
If it's a murder trial, and you suggest that you can't serve on the jury because of jury nullification that means you believe murder should be legal. You will probably get yelled at.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
