I need a recipe for Candied Sweet Potatoes My mother use to make the most fantastic Candied Sweet Potatoes with chopped pecans. We should have gotten the recipe written down years ago but we didn't; her memory isn't good any more so the recipe is lost for good. I'd like a recommendation for a "tried & true" Candied Sweet Potatoes recipe.
I'm ok with internet recipes if you've tried them yourself and they have your seal of approval. Thanks for the help! Asked by ~Lyn~ 49 months ago Similar questions: recipe Candied Sweet Potatoes Food & Drink > Cooking.

Candied Sweet Potatoes This is the way my mother made them, I make them and now my girls make them. Very simple. You have a choice; either cook up fresh sweet potatoes or do what we do and buy the canned...Sorry, we cheat.
For eight servings, you will need: 8 medium-sized sweet potatoes, cooked and peeled, or a couple of the large-sized canned sweet potatoes 1/2 c. Butter 2/3 c. Brown sugar Melt the butter in a large saucepan and add the brown sugar, stirring over low heat until the sugar has melted and the sauce is smooth.
Add the sweet potatoes* to the sugar/butter and stir to coat Put in a buttered baking dish and bake at 300* for 20-30 minutes. If you want, top with the pecans. *If your potatoes are to large for your liking, cut them in URL1 make them alittle different you may add apples.
Just slice the sweet potatoes, core and peel about three cups of tart apples, like Granny Smith, and slice. In a buttered baking dish, layer half of the sweet potatoes, cover with half of the sliced apples and pour half of the butter/sugar syrup (I make the butter/sugar: 3/4 c. Butter & 1 c.
Brown sugar) over the apple layer. Repeat with the potatoes, apples and topping with the remainder of the sugar/butter sauce. If you want, sprinkle with cinnamon.
Cover and bake, 350*, for 1/2 an hour. Uncover and bake until the apples are soft and the top is brown. Sprinkle on your pecans, if you wish.

This in my grandmothers, with walnuts. I know the one you remember had pecans, but this is grandmothers. Her's has walnuts in it, however, if you change the walnuts for pecans it should taste good.
The reason I am giving you this one instead of one off the net is 1. I KNOW this is a great recipe. 2.It is old, so it is more likely to be like the one you would have had.
Here you go!2 pounds sweet potatoes, cut into slices1/2 cup packed brown sugar3-4 tablespoons butter3-4 tablespoons water1 dash salt (1/2 tablespoon, + or -)1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts (pecans in your case)Wash sweet potatoes but do not pare. Heat enough salted water to cover potatoes to boiling. Add potatoes.
Cover and heat to boiling. Cook until tender, 30 minutes; drain. Slip off skins.
Mix brown sugar, butter, water and salt in skillet. Cook over medium flame, stirring constantly, until bubbly. Add walnuts, add sweet potato slices; stir gently until glazed and heated through.
Sorry if it is not more exact, my Grandmother never had a recipe book or measuring cups (if you asked her how much sugar, she would tell you, "just enough),so I had to write it down as she was cooking and work it out later. I hope it is close to what you remember. Good luck!

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
