I need help figuring out the title and author of a detective book I read three years ago?

I need help figuring out the title and author of a detective book I read three years ago... It was a private detective novel. Very "hip" (popular) author... probably has a cult following among the young hipsters in their 20's. I only remember strains of the plot.

The private detective (who narrated the book) was hired by a husband to spy on his wife to see if she was cheating (might have been the other way around with the wife hiring the PI to spy on her husband) ...? But, the case got complicated and people started beating the private detective up and threatening him -- he would get knocked out. The detective was always swearing. Had a sailor's mouth -- he used the f*** word every other sentence (I think).

My description might describe a million detective books. But, it was very distinct in the use of harsh language.. lots of swear words -- and it was hilarious to read. Any ideas?

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
