Txt is a Text file extension. I don't know what either of these has to do with your excel homework in the way you are referring to it here. Opening either one of them (Word or Text) is not going to "automatically" answer some sort of blanks in questions in excel.

I don't know what a mac file is. If you heard this from other students why don't you ask them how to set it up. Setting up a macro varies in all versions of Office, between 2003 and 2013.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
