I need to create an emergency mailing list, what software is best?

Our forums occasionally crash, and I'd like to create an emergency mailing list to let people know what's going on when a crash happens. The list would be used very rarely, and I am looking for simplicity. I want users to only have to put in their e-mail address and they're subscribed.

I do not want them to have to create a Yahoo ID, for example, and make a whole Yahoo group. They do not need to be able to reply to other users. There are 4 administrators for the forums and I'd like for any of us to be able to send out the mailing list.

The entire forum has less than 100 members, but I'd like the mailing list to be able to grow easily. What mailing list systems meet my needs? Keeping it simple is the best way And to do that, I would list your e-mail addresses in an Excel spreadsheet. It's the easiest to update, anyone can do it, and in order to notify your members by e-mail, all you'd need to do is pull up the file, click on the first cell (with the first e-mail address in it), hold down the shift key while you scroll down to the last cell with an e-mail address in it, let go of the shift key (because now all of these e-mail cells are selected, right? ), then copy them (either by going to the Toolbar and selecting Copy or by using Control/C), paste them into the Send To box in your e-mail program (this will work in any e-mail program), and send your message.

Piece of cake. I've tried many, many e-mail programs where you can create groups, and other data base programs to keep track of mailing lists, and believe me, an Excel spreadsheet is the quickest and easiest way to do all of this. You can sort it quickly any way you want, it's easy to correct, etc., etc., etc. You cannot go wrong with Excel.
