I need to do some OCR text recognition on scanned PDF documents. Any app recommendations? Open Source of course?

Here is a way to OCR PDFs for free using Google Convert Scanned PDF Documents to Text with Google OCR labnol.org/software/convert-scanned-pdf-... I think you can accomplish something similar using a Google e-mail account.

A portable OCR program (that you can use without installing, simply by executing it from any folder) can be found here: portablefreeware.com/?sc=185 (it's not open source, but it's freeware).

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
