I read a book a long time ago bad man named candy travel different x's and worlds beetles that ate rocks and pooped gems HELP they transported to different places and the good guy would come back all mixed up because he wasn't as powerful as his brother (the bad guy candy) also had a boy in an insane asylum. There was also a Detective and a female character. I can't for the life of me remember the title or author and it is driving me crazy.

Sounds like "The Bad Place" by Dean Koontz Bobby and Julie Dakota are the male and female characters. They are a husband/wife detective team. Frank Pollard is the "good guy", brother of Candy.

2 Your description reminds me of Roger Zelazny's Amber series, although it has been so long since I read it I can't be sure. The bad guy's name in the first book, Nine Princes in Amber, is Caine, not candy, and the brothers (and their sisters) are battling to control the Jewel of Judgement and the disappearance of their father Oberon. It begins with the brother named Corwin waking in a mental hospital on/in our Earth, from which he must escape.

I vaguely remember something about a beetle creating a second jewel of judgement, or having been responsible for creating it, or something like that. I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
