Don't listen to anyone that tells you to stay in state. You don't have to stay in state. It's good to go outside your comfort zone, especially if your state has nothing to offer you.
I live in New Jersey and my sister went all the way to California. In fact, she's at USC for her 3rd semester right now. She's majoring in journalism.
The best opportunities for her major are in California. New York would be a runner up, but that's not her scene. You deserve to go where you'll be happy as well.
I'm planning on going out of state for college. My major is nursing, and there are only 2 schools in my state with top notch programs, and I have a slim chance is getting into either of them. Nursing is competitive in almost every school.
I'm applying to an okay program in state as a safety. My REAL intent is to go to Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Chicago, Arlington/Baltimore, etc. a nice city with lots going on.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
