Since I was not able to add copy of painting, JFK looking down with arms folded. Think this painting is in one of the hallways of the White House. Perhaps someone can tell me the info about this painting.

You are right--that portrait is hanging in the White House. It's the official presidential portrait of President Kennedy, and was painted by Aaron Shikler in 1970, after Kennedy's death, so while it is very well known and used it was just the pose that the artist selected as most representive of JFK. I can't attach the photo here as I'm on my IPod, but here's a link to it:http://www.whha.org/whha_pictures/presidentshouse_kennedy-01.htmlIt is very moving to see it in its place of prominence in the White House.

Here you go:I think it shows the gravity of being president; a lot of thought and contemplation on the role he plays. Jpg.
I agree it is a moving portrait of JFK. Rocket112133 4 months ago .

I saw it at the Smithsonian - it must have been on loan from the Whitehouse.
Yes that is the Picture, I wonder if it was a painting like when the milles nuke crissis was happening and a artist concept of the Presendent showing concerns if we could be on the verge of nuke war. Rocket112133 4 months ago .
It was painted in 1970, long after his death and I think the artist was conveying a general weight on his shoulders; and a sadness. It's a desegno aimed at creating an emotional response from the viewer more than a focus on any one issue.
Some of the presidential portraits are lacking any life force - they look like illustrations rather than fine art portraits. It's often difficult to find out what artist painted what president. But one uniquely stands out for me and the amusing part is that it is done by someone "tagged" as an illustrator rather than a fine artist just because realism was so rejected during his career.
And that's Norman Rockwell's portrait of Nixon. Norman Rockwell was a lot more than an illustrator. I really liked this in person.
Rockwell gave him a charm he actually lacked in life and the design is so fresh compared to the static poses in typical presidential portraits. I think the portrait of JFK and this one really stand out. Jpg.
This one screams "My head was painted from a photograph. " It has a flat, lifeless look about it in person. You get the feeling the body was painted from an artist's manikin wearing George's suit, which is very likely was.
