Once I get up and walk around on it a bit, it isn't stiff anymore, but there are times when it is tender. Should I go to Orthopedic surgeon or just let it heal (how ever long that may be)? Physical Therapy might be what you need - of course, it's not always covered by insurance - and, if it is, you'll need a referral from a doctor. A physical therapist will show you how to stretch and strengthen your ankle without hurting yourself further, or putting yourself at risk for injury. I've had stiff joints since I was in the Marines.

I have heard of many people being helped a great deal by physical therapists, but unfortunately not me...my joints are too damaged, and joint dysfunction runs in my family. Is there any pain, or just the stiffness? The stiffness (without pain) indicates that you're pretty much healed up - and ready to stretch your joint.

I learned early on in my joint problems to move the joint, a few times daily, to help circulation and check range of motion. There are many people who ice, brace, and keep the joint still - this is a recipe for stiffness. If you walked on it a good deal while you were injured, you may not have healed completely.

The trick is to work the joint a little - but not a lot, and very little weight on it, if at all. I've been told by a few doctors that my ankles and feet are "too small to be mechanically efficient", hence my problems in staying upright! :D I've sprained my ankle(s) many times, and stretching at home really works for me - if you don't like the idea of paying a physical therapist, there are quite a few web sites and videos that have terrific stretches demonstrated.

This site is really good, and is reliable, being the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society, after all:aofas.org/Scripts/4Disapi.dll/4DCGI/cms/... luck! I hope your stiffness goes away soon! Com/watch?

Just a thought...If you do have pain, try to find out if it's muscle or actual JOINT pain. When you have a sprain, you'll limp, or not put a lot of weight on the joint - and your muscles could have atrophied a bit. Strengthening exercises would then be in order.

There could also be other problems, like tendonitis or arthritis. If it gets worse, or lasts for more than a week or two, I'd give my doctor a call.

Thank you so much for the advice! Luckily, I have a friend who is a physical therapist and I will definitely give him a call! It is pretty much just stiffness upon arising, I do get a shot of pain if I happen to be outside walking and walk onto a chestnut or something a little higher than the ground and my ankle gets turned.... but that is to be expected I guess!

Again, thanks so much, and I'm sorry you have such problems (gentically) and can't be helped. CaraB 15 months ago .

It's no biggie - I've learned to live with the lack of pretty shoes! :DWearing boots, I usually (99% of the time) don't sprain my ankle. If I do, it's minor and I recover within a day or two.

I discovered that what really contributed to my ankle sprains was BAD SHOES. (and no ankle support). If you have old, cheap, or worn out shoes ( or they have little ankle support), it could contribute to further spraining.

Because once you sprain your ankle, you stretch the ligaments - and there's no way to get your ankle support back! .

These are 8 months old! How could these questions be relevant when this person is talking about having broken his ankle last JUNE? .

Go to an orthopedic surgeon please. They will know what is wrong with your ankle. They have a lot more knowledge in that field than a regular doctor.

Just because there are no breaks does not mean everything is ok with your ankle. Request an M.R. I to be taken that will check the tissue in your ankle making sure there are no tares. Html/?

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
