I think Askville needs to replace the phrase, "You have no friends" with "You have not yet made a friend"... or ...what would be a better phrase... Asked by Thannisan 53 months ago Similar questions: Askville replace phrase friends made friend Amazon > Askville.

Yes, I agree. Dear Thannisan, It’s kind of uncool stating "You have no friends", like being picked last for a sports team or eating lunch by yourself in the cafeteria at school. Your option is better.
Here are a couple others: 1- Simply leave the heading "Friends List" with-out stating the obvious "You have no friends". 2- Just place an inconspicuous "0" there where the number of friends spot is. Glad you asked.

I agree with you about the infelicitous phrasing, which was probably written by a computer type. A better choice of words would be: “You have no new friend requests pending at this time. ” It certainly sounds better, doesn’t it?
The friends box could just say that and otherwise remaining empty. Once a person receives his or her first friend, the message could move to above or below the box. I like your idea and agree with you. It does sound better to say "You have not yet made a friend". Not sure how you can get that to the powers that be though.
