I think the mystery of why so many people come here for Customer Service has been solved. Wait for details. It's because they've tried calling Amazon Customer Service and spoken to someone in wherever the hell they've outsourced problems to and can't understand a single word that person says!
I just went through that and wanted to tell the guy "Speak English dammit, I can't understand you" more times than I care to admit. And that's why people come here - they want their Customer Service inquiries answered in English. Such a simple solution and it never occurred to anyone.

Looks like you "cracked that case". And for your next assignment......
It's been a long time since I got as frustrated as I was getting with this guy - you have no idea! OldppieHatesNewAV 9 months ago .
I have gone through that when my computer crashed last year. I was on the phone for over an hour with someone from India. I must have said "what" a hundred times.
Luckily at the end of the hour they actually fixed my computer.
I say give American businesses a tax credit if they DON'T outsource work! Think of how many people could be put to work if we put those call centers here in this country as opposed to India, the Phillipines, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Uzbekistan and other places where English isn't something they speak every day. Agreed, this is something that can easily fix a lot of problems here for us..I know how you feel I hate making certain phone calls knowing I'm going to have such a hard time understanding the other person.
No wonder this country's in such a mess - we're letting all those people in foreign countries do the work that could and should be done by Americans. I just hope I never have to call Amazon again! OldppieHatesNewAV 9 months ago .
These people have no idea of what the English language is or how to speak it - they have no business trying to take care of our problems! OldppieHatesNewAV 9 months ago .
Same with Direct TV. I got a Rep from the Dominican Republic. I did not request a Spanish speaking Rep.
I did not press 2 for Spanish. But thank goodness I speak Spanish. Geez .
I think they should ship me over there to teach 'em.
20 questions on the home page. Right now, eleven of them are asking things that can only be answered by amazon customer service, and another 4 are clearly asked by Mturkers. WTF?
I especially love when one of these "outsourced" operators picks-up the line and with a heavy Indian accent, say their name is: Ted, Sue, Brian, etc. LolI love to tell them:"really your name is...; whatever, I need your help with..." and then laugh at them while we are talking.
Since the first Category listed here is Amazon, I assume many assume it is acceptable to post their CS issues here. There is nothing immediately obvious to disabuse them.
Since nothing specifically says that "askville by amazon" is not a prime source for addressing CS issues for Amazon, many assume it is. At least 2 people I have spoken to in the past week never bothered to call Amazon - they asked here directly. And don't assume anything about common sense (that wonderful oxymoron) either.
Secondly, I have just as many, if not more issues with US based customer service staff who are in some cases even more unintelligible than their outsourced equivalents. I have little problem understanding "Percy" from India (he probably has a masters degree), but sure as hell do have difficulty understanding many of the hillbillies and ebonics speaking locals. The problem is companies pay and treat their CS people so poorly that only those at the bottom of the employment pool and without any other choice inhabit the jobs.
Until that changes, hiring locals is not going to improve CS much. A few companies have in fact insourced these jobs again and the results are no less depressing.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
