Audible and iPod - the best combination for Audiobooks and MP3 (IMHO) I don't think there is anything better then an account with Audible to get access to a wide variety of Audiobooks. I'm a member know since 2003. I pay $15 Dollars a month which gives me one book credit.

There are books that will last you for two months so the 1 credit option is great. If you listen to more books there are other monthly payment options with more credits. The device is important.

I had several devices and nothing worked as well as the iPod. The integration with iTunes makes it the best player to download the audiobook and put it on your device. Don't go with the iPod Shuffle though.

The problem I had with the Shuffle is that it's not keeping bookmarks correctly. So you stopped an Audiobook and then it started on a different part in your story. I would say the iPod Mini is the cheapest option here.

The ipod Video or even the iPhone work as well. The nice thing here is really how you can flip through chapters and see the front-cover of the book. After you downloaded 20 books to your iPod this feature comes in handy.

I'm really addicted to this service and listen to books on my daily commute and while in the car. Oh yeah as an Mp3 player ipods are a good option as well. My favorite Audibooks: Everything from Bill Bryson and almost everything from Bernard Cornwell.

From my experience I never had problems updating Audiobooks with iTunes.In fact I like that you don't have to install a 2nd application but can manage all in one player.
