Fashion is all about connections and who you know vs what you know. You have to first off determine if you have a good eye for trends and bringing the best in people (How to excentuate, flatter body-types, colors by skin types...) You can try out with a couple of friends, but make sure you can count on them to tell you the truth, not just what you want to hear. Try finding internships, work in retail, obeserve people in the field.
These are the best ways to see if its a carreer you truly want to persue. Meet people who work in fashion and build your name. Make connections with people who may be interested in your services and can spread word around.

You would be best off starting by looking into schools which offer degree's in fashion related studies (ie. Fashion and Retail Management, Fashion Merchandising, etc. ). The fashion industry is VERY competitive and the more credentials you have, the higher up you will move.
For something you can do immediately to start your career path, I would recommend getting a job at a department store or boutique, as retail experience is extremely helpful in most fashion related careers. A great book that I recommend would be a book called "Career Opportunities in the Fashion Industry" by Peter Vogt.It is an excellent book which gives incredible job descriptions, career paths, and credentials needed to achieve your career goals.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
