While I have to admit, I do have several domain names registered with GoDaddy, I myself have recently been looking into better alternatives. While GoDaddy is one of the most popular names in domain name registration, their customer service and support leaves something to want for. There have been numerous instance of GoDaddy suspending accounts without verifiable reason, technical issues due to overloaded servers, and accounts of stolen domain names listed for sale on the site.
Aside from all of the complications that this can create for you or your business, domain names at GoDaddy can be quite costly in comparison to others. While there are literally hundreds if not thousands of hosting companies out there that have package deals that often include the registration of a domain name and can save you money in the long run when it comes to overall business expenses, if you find that you have to switch hosting companies at a later date, transferring a domain name from hosting company to hosting company can sometimes be an unwanted hassle. The problem that I have with a lot of hosting companies is that you don't really know up front a lot of the things that they offer.
Like, can I run a Joomla CMS on this Windows Server? Is the package that I am purchasing compatible with MySQL? How easy is it to add certain PHP scripts?Etc.
, etc. A lot of times, until I have paid for the first month and played around with it for a little bit, I don't really know if it is going to work out for me. For this reason, I recommend purchasing a domain name registration and a hosting plan separate. I have heard great reviews about http://namecheap.com in this respect.
As far as recommended hosting companies go, that is a whole different question for a whole different day, and I have varied opinions there. For additional horror stories and complaints regarding GoDaddy, as well as lawsuits filed against the company, you can go here: http://nodaddy.com. You can also read other customers' recommendations for alternatives to GoDaddy and comments on this blog: http://jordy.gundy.org/alternatives-to-godaddy/ In addition, for current GoDaddy customers who have unresolved complaints or issues, I have found that the best way to get results, ironically, is to send a direct message to @godaddy via twitter.
I'm not sure why you would not want to use godaddy.com. I have found them to be very reliable, and they bundle other services like domain forwarding into the cost. I used to avoid them because of the cost, but they are now competitive, and have been for some time.
Initial costs are often lower, though you do have to watch the renewals, as they will be full price at time of renewal. Domains purchased through them are often active within an hour of purchase. However, I would not use their hosting services... for several reasons.(Some of which are actually the stories on NoDaddy.Com) Aplus.net sometimes costs less, but you pay extra for forwarding.
Those are the two companies I recommend to people. I have had domains since 2001 with various companies... and I can tell you from experience that cheaper is not necessarily better. I could tell you horror stories about other companies!
From domains that did not renew, to domains that said they renewed that actually expired... it was and IS not pretty. There is one domain right now that somehow belongs to someone in Australia even though I owned it for 8 years and have a receipt saying I renewed it on time this year.It really irks me that someone else is gaining from 8 years of my SEO work... and basically ruining it for me when I DO get it back. I have never had a problem with GoDaddy, and the couple of glitches I've had with Aplus.net have been cleared up right away... they even have live support in the middle of the night via chat on their website.
GoDaddy promises a lot and does very little. A friend of mine was promised that her site would be in the top searches and guess what? She can't even type her site into the search engine word-by-word and it be displayed.
Mind you, this is after she attempted to establish herself over six months ago! Not to mention when you sign up for an account with GoDaddy you are absolutely bombarded with one advertisement after another. All that happens during your entire registration process is a sell-a-thon aimed directly at you!
You are hit with one "special, limited time offer" after another. Oh, and do hurry and sign up for all those special offers (2 pages worth! ) that will expire in exactly 30 minutes.
How lucky of you to have been able to have beat the deadline! Ugh! You will quite literally go through about ten pages before you get a thing accomplished.
And after you feel you've accomplished something someone from GoDaddy will give you a call a couple days later. They want to make sure your order is correct. And yet again, you are hit hard with the sales pitch.
This one specifically is all the wonderful benefits of upgrading your account with them. Ummm, hello? If you told them your order was correct, wouldn't it be an intelligent assumption that you ordered what you wanted in the first place?
Wouldn't it be reasonable to think that were you to have wanted an upgraded account you would have maybe, just maybe...oh, I don't know...upgraded whilst going through the pure hell of registering? Assuming you don't give in to upgrading out of sheer frustration and the feeling you might just die if you can't get off the phone with the jerk representative that called you, no worries! They will call you next month to put you through the same ridiculous round of sales pitches.
And they'll keep calling you to the point you feel you have a stalker and need a protective order from the police. If you are from out of the U.S. you had better hope they even allow you to manage the site you purchased after the agonizing registration. It seems many people log on to find out that their countries ISP has been banned.
Certain domains are unable to be registered on GoDaddy. However, they won't mind at all charging you for these domains. How's that for service?
You can pay for it, but you can't manage it or use it? Need technical support? Good luck getting someone that can help you!
Scratch that, good luck getting someone AT ALL! Still want to try GoDaddy? Be my guest, but watch your account like a hawk. It's very commonplace for GoDaddy to charge you their oh-so inexpensive fee so many times that you'll likely have about $100.00 less your first month or two.
Hope this helps!
nodaddy.com/ Check out this site for info on godaddy and their negative side. I don't really know where to start for finding a safe, reliable one. But godaddy never seemed very good to me.
This is the best site I found against them.
The reason why I would not use GoDaddy for a domain name, because if you search around there are other companies with cheaper rates, and also some hosting companies offer free domain names in exchange for you using there company to host your site.
I work for Network Solutions and my advice is to consider what you are going to with the domain before choosing a provider. Is it for a website or a blog or do you just want to forward it to another domain. After you consider these questions then look for what value providers give you and in many cases this would depend on your needs and what skills you or anyone in your office would need to have to manage these.
Hope this helps. Shashi.
Godaddy has been good to me - I have four domains registered with them and, when I have needed them, they've been quick to answer my questions. They send a bunch of emails when it's time to renew your domain name, but I'd prefer too many than too few! Also, one thing you should consider is that you should avoid hosting your site anywhere that you buy a domain name - ESPECIALLY when there's some sort of special like, "Host with us and your domain name is free!"
Often, if there's a special like that, since the domain is free it might be technically 'registered' with them, so you may run into trouble if you ever need to transfer the domain to another server. I purchase all my domains at GoDaddy - it's easy and quick since my info is on file, and I host everything with BlueHost (personal sites) and the RackSpace cloud (business/professional sites) Have fun building your site!
Guys get the domain registration at cheap and reliable cost at right here thewebpole.com.
VERY SHORTLY: + Godaddy.com has good services, and long term reputation (positive, and little bit negative as well). Services are easy to manage, and most of them cheap. - GoDaddy has some Bad reputation: as holder and owner of lots of suspicions domains (port/ads/mail ware etc.) and didn' t increase your rating in case if you planing to register "serous" bank/company domain :-) - GoDaddy has couple of dirty incidents with holders domains, transfer/suspend/cancel registration and etc. ...but its hard to check in value.
(this minus side you can check @ nodaddy.com - Famous NMAP author Fyodor owning this site and collect negative incidents list.).
It really depends on what you are looking for. Do you want only to buy a Domain Name or do you want to buy a hosting solution to setup a website or blog. If you are looking to setup a website, you will have to first make a choice between self-hosted or free hosting such as blogger.com.
Blogger will allow you to set up a blog using a custom domain and you can buy that domain name directly in Google's dashboard. Guess who Google's partner is on blogger? GoDaddy.
Yes, that's right, so that pretty much answers your question. GoDaddy is reliable and credible, but if I were you I would see other options first. Just Domain Name: Buying a domain name can be expensive in GoDaddy.
Depending on the TLD (Top level domain - . Com, . Net, .
Biz, . Org, etc), there are many choices to buy it from. You have DynaDot, DirectNic, CheapDomains, and a lot more.
Hosting Solution: If you go via this option, you should know that there are many companies who will "give" you one free domain name for registering and using their hosting service. Prices can vary from a s low as $50 a year. Some recommended web hosting provider are BlueHost, DreamHost, GoDaddy (them too), etc.For further information and comparison between several domain registrars and web hosting providers, one of the most realible site to obtain information from is http://webhostinggeeks.com/.
Shop around and then, make your decision. Good luck and I hope this helps.
Give namecheap.com a try their service has been good to me.
Well, I purchased three domain names at GoDaddy.com and my others domain have been purchased at my WebHost and would say that, firstly, even while being "cheap" domain names, with GoDaddy you have no real privacy unless you pay for this; which can become highly expensive if you have several domain names. This service is provided for free by my WebHost. In addition, I wanted to move all three domains from GoDaddy to my WebHost and never got the email incuding the needed code to do the move... I tried for three years and never was able to move those domains."Unfortunately", they're ranked and known now so I don't really want to stop paying for them and buy new domains somewhere else or even at my WebHost.
Those are the reasons why I wouldn't recommend GoDaddy at all - while having been reading nodaddy.com long ago and agreeing with their opinion as well!
Godaddy is the safe & reliable indeed but it is SO EXPENSIVE. They may give you best offer for the first year but later they will charge as regular rates. If you need domain+hosting fatcow.com is the BEST & Reliable.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
