Only a Nursing or Medical Officer in the ADF is qualified to tell you if you're eligible to join with that condition. However, the Army recruits people who always at 100% - I don't fancy your chances with any sort of lung condition. Recommend you still apply anyway, it's looked at on a case-by-case basis and you may be considered for entry.
Personally, I don't feel a big war involving us is going to happen any time soon. If you do join up, you're not really sparing anyone from being deployed - most combat positions are full and competitive to get into. However, we could always use more soldiers in the critical support roles.
Put it this way, even if you do get in, it will slow you down big time.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
