Most Muslims and most converts to Islam are not terrorists and do not support terrorism. Chances are that this guy is a peaceful Muslim. On the other hand, converts to any religion tend to be especially passionate for that religion.
It's called "convert zeal." Tragically this zeal has led a small minority of Muslim converts to embrace the most extremist interpretations of their new religion. I can't give you any hard statistical data, but if you have been following the news, there have been many examples of Muslim converts being arrested for plotting terrorist acts, or trying to go overseas to join a terrorist group.
Although those sucked into extremism represent a small percentage of the total number of Muslim converts (a few percent at most), the proportion of extremist sympathizers and supporters is considerably greater among new Muslims than converts to other major religions. So here's some practical advice. Give this guy the benefit of the doubt and assume he is in the peaceful majority, but keep an eye on him.
If the two of you can still get along as people who just happen to have two different religions, that's great! On the other hand, if he starts defending Islamic terror groups like ISIS or using the moral equivalency argument to claim that the United States and "Zionists" are just as bad, then there could be a problem.
You should be more wary of somebody who'd steal your wallet, who is unlikely to be a sincere covert.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
