I know my son LOVES these books (and has all of them). There is one book in the series where you can add your own pictures and comments. (Diary of a Wimpy Kid Do-It-Yourself Book) You might want to look at that and then use some of those ideas.
Some of the stations could be everyone adding their own piece to the story or (like in the book) a list ("Your Favorites" or "You Least Favorites") or a Make Your Own Comic. Lots a great ideas you can "borrow" from this book. amazon.com/Diary-Wimpy-Kid-Yourself-Book....
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
