Ibogaine has been proven super effective as a heroin detox treatment...why isn't it used more often?

It may be a wonderfully helpful treatment but Ibogaine and the plant it comes from are scheduled substances. The long term effects of taking that drug are unstudied. And because we know how dangerous hallucinogens can be it would be unethical to do a study on their efficacy.

A bad trip on a hallucinogen can cause a permanent PTSD like syndrome. The claims that they are an excellent heroin cure is largely hearsay.

It is being used for treatment a lot, just not in the united states. The reason why it is illegal is largely due to the fact that pharmaceutical companies cannot patent the drug, and that in most instances is a one thing type of deal requiring no more applications. The drug has and is being studied in many countries where it is not illegal, Canada, Mexico, France, U.

K, South Africa, New Zealand etc.. It has proven in many instances to help "cure" addiction , not just heroine but alcohol, cigarette etc.. It also is useful in treating depression or OCD. Hallucinogens in general are less dangerous than alcohol or painkillers.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
