If a person can teach himself Martial Arts, then he can be a good doctor by not letting himself enroll on some legit universities for the knowledge he want to attain and achieve, if everybody can turn genius by just teaching himself, then what the world would be, chaos will occur everywhere because every person wants to be a leader. I am telling you that you cannot teach yourself Martial Arts skills you need; there are some people who know what to give and to teach, their guidance is highly needed for us to lighten how it works and the purpose of every given lessons. Just like on your part, you able to learn boxing through the help of your grandpa and learn some basic kicks from your friends, you are learning from them and not just by your own, through that you able to customize things and feel more the way it works, but as a whole it's not you who discover it, you want to improve more but without proper guidance from qualified trainer / instructor, what you has is just a partial things.
Again, what you had is just a limited ability, if you want more, then having a regular practice at some legit training place will let you avail a quality kind of instructions.
You missed the point. You can't teach yourself because you DON'T have any experience AND you don't have the background from which the people who developed martial arts came from. You do not know when you are doing it wrong and if you did you would not know how to do it right BECAUSE you do not know.
And you are very wrong about the "little" knowledge of those who developed martial art. Martial arts developed from a time in history where warfare and sudden violence was a normal part of an average person's existence. Those who had gone to war or fought to survive and actually lived through it had knowledge of what worked and what did not which they passed on to others.
The survivors learned from the dead or vanquished and through many generations of refinements and new experiences formed the various martial arts. BUT that knowledge is the result of the sum total of the experiences of many lives. YOU are only one person.
How do you expect to duplicate, discover or accumulated the experiences of hundreds or thousands of lives? Martial art is more than just a simple exercise in monkey-see-monkey-do. There are things at work that you cannot see.
There are concepts that cannot be explained in words because it is not even in your mind. And the only way to get it into your mind is to be guided by someone who does understand and helps you by planting the seed of the idea and hope it sprouts in your brain.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
