Yes. Even though I think this whole thing is disgusting, what is also disgusting are the people who think they can dictate what I can or cannot buy and read, or what a company can sell. I suggest that everyone who is so upset about amazon seling this book not shop here anymore.

That being said, you do not have the right to force your beliefs onto others.

If it was, then I would continue shopping here because I know how their self publishing system works. Anyone can get an Amazon account and sell their book from that account instantly and Amazon doesn't check it out. If they did check it out and make sure it wasn't offensive, there would be a backlog and it could take months before your book was for sale.

I think the self publishing option is a really fun thing for amateur writers. It's been available for a while and nobody has complained, which leads me to believe that 99.99% of the people who use service don't abuse it. I would HATE to see Amazon revamp their self publishing service because one loser published something awful.

Considering that most self publishing services charge a pretty large sum and Amazon is free (or if it's not free, the fee is something ridiculously low and probably only takes a portion of sales from each book you actually sell) This service is too good to screw up. Had they defended the guy and kept the book up, I'd have a different opinion. But I liked that they took it down as soon as it came to their attention.

I hope that people would quit raising a stink about it, because I know a whole lot of folk personally who would lose a hobby that they really enjoy -- writing books for fun, putting them up for sale and buying the books of other people they know who are doing the same thing.

First off, "Here" is Askville, not Amazon. We don't have any control over what Amazon sells, and they don't really have much to do with the operations of this site. Second, there isn't anything to buy on Askville.

DanZee and Turbo, FIY the actual "book pulling" the book title and book itself have been removed TEMPORARILY until the book can be reviewed and permanent action decided. Turbo, I'm not sure what "your beliefs are BUT you should consider that sex with a minor is illegal in America and most other civilized countries and please note: The First Amendment does NOT protect ALL speech. Under interpretation this book is not protected as it incites illegal and harmful activity.

That said, to answer the original question:I will not use Amazon until the book and a few others like it are removed, the pedophile how-to-guides, to phrase it bluntly. In the same fashion, I believe in The First Amendment and understand and accept that many other books that discuss, review, fantasize about and research pedophilia, pedisexual behavior, and similar topics will still be available, as they should be, under the protection of our Constitution.

Whether it was one book or 100000 makes no difference. The exposure has made it that much easier for the pedofiles. The almighty dollar came before lifes of the children that will be affected by this.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
