Sam, British Petroleum does and did have a plan. It is called the BOP. That is the piece of equipment that sits on the ocean floor that is supposed to shut off the flow if something happens.
60 minutes did an interview with one of the computer engineers that was on the rig. The engineer said that a BP official had skirted protocal and basically was cutting corners. He also said that a week or more before that, they had conducted tests on the BOP and found that it was only 50% operational.
Then while they conducted the test, someone accidentaly move the pipe lever that made the pipe move and cut the BOP seal up. Later on the deck hands brought the torn up seal pieces to the managers whom ignored it. Later on the well blew back and none of the safety feature worked.
What I don't understand is why havent we heard anything in the news yet about these people being brought up on charges yet.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
