If I am paid a salary and get called in to work a partial day during my regularly scheduled vacation should I be paid?

Most companies would not pay you but, give you compensation time. They should give you at least the 1/2 day you worked; if not, a full day for your good deed.

1 The hours worked should be paid as regular time and not vacation time. Just bank (as vacation time) the amount of hours actually worked on that partial day...Hopefully your good deed of taking time away from your vacation to help the company will pay dividends down the road.
