If I am starting a monetized blog for fun and profit, will I do better if the blog is generalized or specific?

I think you should do the single Celebrity if it is Kevin Bacon otherwise generalize, because we all know Bacon is king on the internet! ;) I kid I kid, but I was thinking about 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon . .. Honestly I don't think you should have to be absolute.

If you are too specific, your material is already covered by a spectacular number of fan sites, if you are too general you are competing with EVERY celeb gossip site outthere. Try this focus on your celeb, but branch out to related actors and directors. I will use Johnny Dep as an example, you start by writing about him but when Nicolas Cage becomes a hot topic due to a new movie you could write your take on Nick giving Johnny a leg up in Hollywood.

You are now writing on a buzz worthy keyword without straying from topic. Later Nicolas Cage posts will work because people can understand the link. The only disadvantage of this you have to know a ton about your topic person and the people he/she commonly works with, however if you can meet this challenge I think you will have a dynamic and interesting blog.

Good Luck Tracey!

I think people eat up celebrity gossip in general. Take a hint from all of those successful gossip magazines you are forced to stare at while waiting in line at the grocery store. If you specialize in a group of celebrities or even one celebrity, you will greately reduce your readership, thereby limiting the potential for the site to become popular and/or profitable.

I personally don't care to read about celebrities, but I think most people that do don't have a specific celebrity they're following. They just like to pass the time and read about other people's fame and misfortunes.

There are so many celebrities in the world. It may be best to specialize in a group of celebrities you are most interested in. Musicians, actors, talk show hosts, comedians, soap opera stars, whatever you follow the most.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
