Sounds like a really bad union - Philadelphia Unions sure wouldn't let any company get away with that crap I would look into reporting it to the state dept of labor the company is acting illegally for not paying for hours worked and the Union is not doing right by its members and may also be breaking some laws by siding with the company.
Same thing happened to me in MN as a nursing assistant. I am a super worker, but our company decided to get rid of the older, higher paid workers and those that had been injured on the job. I was REALLY harassed, and set up so badly I could have wound up losing my license or going to jail.
The industry in the town I work is plagued with what I will describe as "gansterettes," or former minors who had gangster ties, and don't know how to do their job except to make trouble. They eventually lose their jobs, but have more chance of rehire than I do at my "almost can retire" age. The union is full of IT--they are married to the employer.
When I was terminated the 2nd ti Good, I've beenkicked in to better places--and you have a SICK facility culture--you're a pack of sadists of the worst kind--masochist sadists. So now, I've been on unemployment almost two years. Today, I was busy with an elder friend and someone from this place said I should come to work this weekend.
They want me to get my application in tomorrw. This is a beautiful assisted lifing, brand new. Not at all like the cesspool of infection masochist sadist nursing home I was fired from.
I hope all union leaders wind up at my former place of work..
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
