If men and women have hair in all the same places, why do we bother shaving?

I think that was the case well up to the 90's when both men and women began to shave some parts of their body. It is the effect of the "visual" thing getting into the process I suppose although I must believe that women have been especially influenced over the years by various publications like "Playboy" to pursue the "shaving" thing...not that I am complaining! LOL!WB.

For me its a hygiene thing. Personally I prefer not to have any body hair.

Wow, thats a really cool one I found here :) Well in ISLAM you have to get your certain body parts shaved. I don't know about other religions. Moreover, I think soon there will be an era where you will find hairy people all around you & will be termed as FASHION :).

Because that is gross if you don't shave, I can't stand to have body hair either,I just feel dirty.

Wow! This is an interesting question, I don't know the answer to it though, I guess it is just fashion, trends and depending on the custom in your country.

Good question. It's more of an aesthetic reason that we're accustomed to seeing in society. Hairlessness is seen is "feminine."

In the US, as shorter and more revealing dresses become popular in the 20th century, shaving was encouraged for women. In fact, businesses selling shaving supplies attacked women with armpit hair, calling armpit hair "unsightly" and "a problem" so that women would buy their products. Some ads did use the excuse of hygiene though.

Over time, it's just expected that women are hairless. However, men do shave as well (besides facial hair), but mostly for athletic reasons. Men who shave for aesthetic reasons are usually those who build muscles or model.

@nabeelplus and LifeMeansChange - I agree that the practice of shaving differs from group to group. Shaving among women is primarily practiced in the US and Britain, and less so in other countries (although this is changing). And we'll see about hairy fashion sooner or later :).

Because it is the socially accepted thing to do. It's only a big deal because we make it a big deal here in the states. There are other cultures who don't carry the same aversion to body hair that we have.

Its deemed cleanly and attractive. You don't have to go crazy. Just tidy up.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
