If my computer has an IrDA port, can that port be used to control the computer with a regular IR Remote for a TV?

I am hoping to get a laptop soon with an IrDA receiver on the front. I was hoping to be able to program the computer to be able to use a standard IR remote control designed for a TV to make the computer do basic commands (such as dvd commands). Is this possible through the IrDA port?

Yes, but... Yep. You'll need some additional software, which may or may not come with your computer. If it doesn't, you'll need to buy some, like the stuff at the link below.(I haven't used it, so I can't vouch for it.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
