I don't think it's a matter of being polite. You should follow people whose hubs you are interested in and will continue to read, or someone whose forum posts you find especially funny and want to keep up with.
I think a polite thing to do in return, is to read a couple of hubs from a person who has read some of your hubs, rather than immediately become a follower. You should follow only those writers into whose writings you are really interested in. Commenting on other people's hubs is also a nice gesture.
Yes that is the polite thing to do but if you do not feel like following them it's better not to. Building your network online is a good idea though.
I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
