If the universe is 13.8 million years old, it would be impossible to see light from a star more than 13.8 million light years away?

Evidently you do not understand about conditions on the surface of Mars. Mars has a very thin atmosphere --- only 1% as dense as Earth's. At that low pressure, liquid water can not exist.

Water ice sublimes directly to gas (as CO2 does on Earth) The "water" that exists on Mars only exists as an ooze within the surface strata. The atmosphere of Mars consists mainly of CO2 (96%) Argon (2%) and Nitrogen (2%) with tiny amounts of water and oxygen .. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mars Bear in mind that CO2 is lethal to humans in concentrations above about 1%. We can not survive on Mars without a pressurized habitat -- and some very high tech life support.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
