I would change the day Robert E. Lee turned down the job of leading the Union Army. He just prolonged the Civil War that couldn't have been won by the South.
General Lee in a winner's role may well have become President as Grant did. Lee would have been much easier on the South after the war, thus there would be less hard feelings towards the Government.
I would change the day that President Kennedy was assassinated. I would force him to put the bubble up on the car, and not let him get killed. I think the U.S., and probably the world, would be much better place today if he had lived.
I believe he had wonderful things in him that we never got to see. At that time, Presidents were able to have three terms, and I truly believe that the 12 years he would have spent in office would have changed the world as we know it today. I've watched the U.S. Political world go to rack and ruin, starting with Johnson and his escalation of Viet Nam, and now look at the mess we're in.
If Kennedy had lived, and served three terms, I honestly believe that the effects of those twelve years would have prevented what is happening now. I fear for what the future holds. I feel like honesty and personal character count for nothing, and that the legacy of a full Kennedy administration would have been that we would have been one of service to one's community, and one's country.
Now all we have is people who care about nothing but themselves. Service to community and country has taken a back seat to wealth and fame at any cost. I was 12 when Kennedy died 45 years ago.In 45 years, I've seen the world's morality change, and never for the better.
We've been in a moral decline ever since that day. I know that people will reply that Kennedy had no morals, but personal morals and public morals are two entirely different things. It was a different time, and what he did personally I don't think would have affected the good he could have done publicly.
I would have President Lincoln die from a heart attack in March, 1861. Without Lincoln there would not have been a Civil War.
I often get asked this question, because people are overwhelmed when it comes to starting positive life changes. They ask me: what one or two habits should they start with? It’s not an easy question.
There are so many changes I’ve gone through, from quitting smoking to simplifying my life to reducing debt to many more. And they’ve all seemed life-changing, and they’ve all seemed important. But if I were to start again, and had to pick one or two, it would be the one or two listed below.
The list that follows is in order of what I think I’d do the first 6-7 months of changing my life … but realize that every person is different. No one should follow my choices exactly — you’ve got to figure out what works for you. That said, if you followed the program below, and worked to develop these habits, you’d probably do pretty well.
Do a 30-day challenge, focusing on just ONE habit. Write it out on paper, along with your motivations, obstacles, and strategies for overcoming them. Commit fully, in a public way.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
