If you could go Back in History to meet someone, who would go back to, meet and why?

First I would want to meet with my mom; she died when I was a kid and I had so many unanswered questions later. Second I would want to meet Katherine Hepburn; she lived an interesting life for her times and I have often thought I would love to sit on a beach with her and listen for hours. Third I might want to meet with Thomas Jefferson and ask him about the difficulties surrounding the possibilites of building what he seemed to have hoped would be a just, fair, and decent way of governing a society.

What a wonderful question. It would be three people that I thought of right away--many more, but you didn't ask for that. Harriet Tubman because she was so brave; Victoria Holt because I like the way she write; and, my dad because he died when I was really young and I would just really like to get to know and spend time with him.

I would want to visit one of my ancestors in the 1700s.

Great question .. I would like to go back to the early 1900s. I read a lot about European story and particularly the Spanish Civil War while in college and I'd like to go back to that time and that place to understand what took place and learn from it. Ona personal level, I would also like to meet my grandfather because I never met him.

I'd like to meet my father again. He died when I was 27 years old. We never saw each other eye to eye.

I got to talk to him before he passed away. It was the only time I felt connected and I really appreciated him as a person and as a father. Would love to reconnect.

Awesome question! Being a history freak, there are so many time periods that I would love to go back to. First and foremost, ancient Greece.

I would love to experience firsthand the culture, art, and to fully understand the mythology. Secondly, I would love to journey back to prehistoric times with the dinosaurs (but only briefly so I wouldn't get eaten! ).

The dinosaurs were so advanced and it would be incredible to witness their behavior. I would also love to have been a fly on the wall in 16th century Italy while Michelangelo sculpted the David and painted the Sistine Chapel. Such a master and prodigy of his craft.

But out of anyone that has ever lived, I would want to meet Abraham Lincoln. If only we could all absorb a portion of his knowledge and character, we would all be much better people.

I would like to go to the Very first American Thanksgiving. Sincepresumabley the whites and the Indians trusted and respected each other. I would like to see how that could have changed the course of history if perpetuated.

I would like to soak up some of the courage needed to suvive those New Engalnd winters without benefit of central heating, running warer and penicillin. The Pilgrims and the Indians must ahve been remarkable people. I would also like to meet with the ancestors who are supposed to have been part of the Maflower entourage.

I want to know what these people were like.

I wouldn't go back further than around 1600 for fear of being burned at the stake. One of my favorite hypotheticals is what would you bring back with you to different periods in time, especially if it were a one way trip? Do you bring a machine gun to 1200 AD when swords and shields were the norm?

You'd run out of bullets before enemies would run out of bodies. What about a textbook? A history book would be useful.

A car wouldn't be, as you wouldn't be able to refine petroleum on your own or get replacement parts when it breaks.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
