Oh yeah, sign me up. That's an adventure I would enjoy, I'd like to bring my family, some books, some seeds, ah this is a hearty fantasy.
Not sure. But I'm just waiting for someone to answer with "Been there, done that, how do you think I got here?
I wouldn't go. Early colonies have a history of hardship, even when they're successful. Going would mean long battles trying to establish a system of law, food shortages, disease and potential war with any native species.
I understand the romanticism and adventure that such an expedition would represent, but I'm not that brave.
I, personally, wouldn't want to go. However, if you're looking for volunteers, I have a list of people I'd like to see go. I can give you their names and numbers.
All you have to do is ask.
The question is not if, but when. Once I get the funding, I'm going start a moon base and have an army of lizard servants conquering the universe for me. Oh, and then I'll invade Earth and turn it into a despotic dictatorship with free healthcare and education, and free housing and food for those who can't afford it.
If I could bring my family, then no problem. Going without them would be a prison sentence, might get to write a few more hubs though.
Exciting question! I think our first instinct is to reject the idea; however, we just celebrated Thanksgiving and must remember that coming to the New World was no easy thing, surely not as easy as we have it in America today. The whole world is knocking down the door to be here.
But it has to start with somebody...and I might just be in that colony, Pete.
No, I wouldn't go, even if they pay me a million dollars. Life on earth is exciting enough for me and I wouldn't survive a single day out there.
Definitely - I've been hoping that first ship would be in my lifetime but I fear that is not to be with the Shuttle being mothballed. Hopefully I can instill that same sense of wonder in my kids though as we (humanity) really need to spread ourselves into the universe a bit more. Right now there is too much risk for a single event to cause widespread devastation and harm!
I would probably do it no matter what. But it would be pretty nice to be able to take with you some of the things or people you got used to all your life. But anyway, you`ll be able to make new friends anyway, am I right?
:).
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
